My grandmother's sister was a big BIG traveler in her day. She went everywhere! I think she went to every continent except for Antarctica. I hope I can say the same when I am older. I've been to 3 continents so far. She visited Hong Kong and brought these Chinese lanterns back with her. They and another strand were hung on my grandmother's Christmas tree and I always loved them. Eventually, my mom and dad got them and hung them on their tree too. After David and I got married, mom and dad gave us one of the strands and I was so excited to have them. Since we graduated to a faux tree this year, we didn't have a place to plug in the lanterns so David thought the doorway into our breakfast room was a good spot. I kind of like them there. I think we'll just leave them up until after Chinese New Year. I wish my pictures of these were better but we don't have a great camera and I don't know how to work it anyway.
