2.17.10

I am a faithful couponer and I love to scan the Sunday paper for coupons and sales circulars. I do NOT love to cut out coupons and put them in my binder. I have a stack of about a month's worth of coupon booklets that I need to organize. Ugh. I guess visions of the deals to come will have to get me through.

  2. I love to use coupons, too, but I HATE cutting them out. My husband came across a new method (that really isn't a method) a couple of years ago, and it's been a lot easier. As long as you're not embarrassed to cart a binder to the grocery store. We are not. We date the coupon supplements with a big marker across the front. Then we punch them and put them in a three-ring binder, most current on top. About once a month, we go through the oldest ones, tear out pages with ones that are still good, circle them and put them in a tabbed section of the binder.

When we shop, or prepare to shop, we flip through the pages and clip the ones we know we'll use. I use those post-it book tabs to mark pages for ones we might use...makes it easier to find them in the store.

I also keep a little pencil bag for loose coupons that we collect or inevitable don't use in the front of the binder.

It's not a perfect system, but it saves me clipping. There are also a couple of websites that list the coupons and what dated supplements you can find them in. THAT is a little too much work for me, but Jon looks at it every once in a while.

What kind of binder do you use? I used one with baseball card-style holders for a while.
