4.3.10

Well, our spring break has started off with a bang! We spent most of yesterday driving to my mom and dad's with (not so) brief stops at Cracker Barrel and the outlet malls. David and I played a couple of rousing rounds of the alphabet game on the way, which were only stopped when I fell asleep in the middle of each round. We finally arrived around 6:30 last night, had a big family dinner and let Maggie and Nuria get reacquainted (wow, that's a hard word to type) with one another.

Today, I went and got a pedicure and saw a local blogger that I read from time to time. I didn't introduce myself though. I thought that might be kind of weird. I only read her blog because she's from my hometown. Then I rushed home, ate lunch in about 5 minutes and left again to get my hair highlighted. The grays were becoming overwhelming. I don't have pictures of these activities. Then I met the rest of my family at the assisted living facility where my grandma lives for an Easter egg hunt! Now THAT I have pictures of.

After a rather disappointing showing at her school's egg hunt, where Maggie found exactly 2 eggs, she was READY to search for eggs today.

We had to wait in the hallway outside the courtyard for what seemed like forever and you could just see all those eggs out there waiting to be found! It was hard to be patient but we persevered.
It was a good thing that there was a cousin to goof off with while we waited.

This cousin wasn't interested in doing much more than snoozing and sucking on his paci. I wish I had a picture of him without his paci in his mouth so you could see his face. He is a chubster!

And then finally, finally, we were released to find Easter eggs! Maggie had a lot of fun. They separated the kids into 2 groups, 3 and under and 4 and up. I knew Maggie would get mowed down by the bigger kids so even though she's 4 1/2, I let her search with the little kids. Plus we wanted Maggie and Nuria to be together. No one seemed to notice or care.

Maggie did not want to go near the Easter bunny when she first saw him and kept a wary eye on him for most of the egg hunt. A bunch of kids got their pictures taken with him and Nuria even went up all by herself. We reminded Maggie how brave she was when she sat on Santa's lap and how good she felt afterwards, so she summoned all of her courage and she and David went up to sit with him. She was so proud of herself afterwards, and I was too!

Maggie and Nuria gave St. Francis some lovin'

and Pam and I had a little bit too much punch!

And when we got home later on, David and I promptly fell asleep. Jeff and I took the girlies on a tricycle ride down to the "sul de sac" and kicked soccer balls around in the front yard. We had another big and delicious family dinner and now we are all resting up for another big day. Maggie's Easter basket has been filled and eggs have been hidden. Good night!

  1. How fun that the living center put on an egg hunt for the kids! And I totally don't blame you for putting Maggie with the younger kids. I would have done the same thing.
Oh, and curiosity is getting the best of me, who did you see while getting a pedicure?
