5.8.10

David had a track meet all day today, so I took Maggie to soccer. She had individual and team pictures made first. Unfortunately, she didn't want to smile much for her picture and I also let her drink juice that was orange (not orange juice) on the way to practice and she spilled it straight down the front of her white jersey. Awesome. Maggie's poor little team got KILLED at their game. The league she plays in is for 4 year olds only but I think most of the kids on the other team were closer to 5 than four. Ah, well. There's always time for a learning experience.

Oh, I love this picture.

Wait. Where's the goal again?
What game is this?

Look at my big girl.

We quickly ran to Target after the slaughter was over and picked up a cheap inflatable pool for our afternoon's activities. Maggie lobbied heavily for the $34.99 pool with a "slide" and a sprayer but I insisted on the $9.99 version. Earlier in the week, I saw a camera on the sale endcap that was 50% off, so after thinking about it for a few days, I decided I was going to go ahead and purchase it. I wanted a small camera that would fit in my purse and I could take pictures at any time. That way my blog won't be a series of pictures of Maggie sitting at the coffee table every single night! When we got to the endcap, the cameras were all gone, darn it! But then, I noticed someone had attempted to hide a camera behind a pile of sale video games. HA! So, now I am the proud owner of a bright red, skinny little Kodak camera! Hooray! We ate lunch (at home, to Maggie's chagrin), showered and took good naps. I woke up when the doorbell rang because Kimberly and AK came over to play in the pool!

We set the pool up in the front yard like good rednecks and I also dragged out the water table and a bunch of plastic cups and measuring spoons and stuff. Maggie and AK spent most of their time sitting on the edge of the pool or screaming at the tops of their lungs because that water was MAYBE 50 degrees. They had big fun anyway.

I think their lips were beginning to turn blue here. Kimberly and I sat in the shade on the driveway and stayed far away from the water. David came home earlier than expected and sprayed the girls with the hose and made them shriek with laughter. We even made a redneck water slide with Maggie's dollar slide from a yard sale. Then I left everything in the front yard overnight. Awesome!
